Delivery fee calculator by zone for flower shops
A flower shop's delivery fee is usually an inherited number: "five euros", because it was always five. This calculator works out what each delivery really costs with your runs, your kilometres and the driver's time, and suggests what to charge in the usual zone and the far one. Free and no sign-up.
What each delivery costs you
A typical run from your shop: how many deliveries, how many kilometres, how long it takes. The result is the real cost per delivery, to decide what to charge in each zone.
Indicative minimum order = cost per delivery ÷ 10 %: below that amount, free delivery eats more than 10 % of the order. A delivery charged with the bouquet is taxed like the bouquet in Spain: check with your accountant.
What it calculates
The cost of a run is the sum of the kilometres (fuel and wear), the driver's hours (including the stops, the doorway you cannot find and the customer who is out) and the fixed costs of going out (parking, packaging). Divided by the deliveries on the run, that is what each one costs. The suggested fee adds the margin you want, and the far zone adds the extra kilometres with their time.
How to use it
- Describe a typical run: how many deliveries, how many kilometres there and back and how long it takes in total.
- Put in what a kilometre and an hour of the driver cost (even if the driver is you: your hour at the counter is worth money).
- Choose the margin and the extra kilometres of a far zone.
- Read the cost per delivery, the suggested fees and the minimum order below which free delivery eats more than 10 % of the order.
Who it is for
The shop that charges a flat fee and loses money on far addresses; the one that wants a minimum order with an argument behind it; and the one wondering whether a courier works out cheaper than delivering itself.
From the calculated fee to the fee the website charges
Inside Priroda the zones are drawn on the map, each zone has its price per delivery window and the fee calculates itself at the counter and in the online store, with the same rules. The real cost of every delivery is noted next to what was charged, and the delivery report says whether delivering makes or loses money. It is told in Delivery for flower shops.
Frequently asked questions
What VAT does delivery carry?
When delivery is charged together with the bouquet, it forms part of the price of supplying the bouquet and follows its rate in Spain. Check with your accountant for your case.
What if I deliver myself?
Put a cost on your hour anyway: the time you spend in the van you are not at the counter or building bouquets. If your hour is worth zero, every delivery looks profitable.
How do I decide the zones?
By the streets you really serve, not by postcodes: the centre, the first ring and the outskirts are usually enough. In Priroda the zones are drawn freehand on the map and stacked.
Does it keep my data?
No. The calculator runs in your browser and sends nothing.
