# What a florist's POS needs, and what it costs

> What a POS for a flower shop has to know how to do that a generic POS does not: orders with a date and window, a recipient who is not the payer, flowers at 10 % and vases at 21 % on the same receipt, stock by stem, Bizum and payment links, cash close and VeriFactu. And what it costs: hardware and software.

A generic POS knows how to take payment. A flower shop needs the same device to take an order for Saturday with a delivery window and a card message, charge a bouquet at 10 % and a vase at 21 % on the same receipt, deduct from stock the twelve stems that went into the bouquet, and close the cash at the end of the day. This guide lists what a florist's POS has to know how to do, and what it costs to set up.

## The ten things it has to know how to do

1. **Orders, not just sales.** An order for tomorrow at eleven, with address and window, has to come in through the same screen as the walk-in sale, and appear in the day's list.
2. **A recipient who is not the payer.** The person ordering and the person receiving are two people, with two addresses and two phones.
3. **Mixed VAT on one receipt.** Flowers, bouquets and plants at 10 %; vases, cards and wine at 21 %. The receipt and the tax report separate them by themselves.
4. **Stock by stem.** Selling a bouquet deducts its twelve roses and its eucalyptus, not "one bouquet". Otherwise the stock is worth nothing.
5. **Made and built bouquets.** The one from the cooler with its price, and the one built in front of the customer with the cost in view.
6. **The local ways to pay.** Cash with change calculated, card, transfer, Bizum, and a payment link for the person ordering by phone.
7. **The thermal receipt**, with the logo, the lines and the QR, from the counter, without a separate computer.
8. **The cash close**: cash against card, change given, difference with the count, unpaid orders.
9. **The invoice from the receipt** when a company asks for it, with its tax details, without typing again.
10. **VeriFactu**, mandatory from 2027: chained records and a QR on receipts and invoices, included in the price.

## Why a generic POS falls short

A bar or clothing POS is built to sell what is on the shelf to the person holding it. It has no delivery date, no recipient, no product composition, no delivery zones. Flower shops that use one end up with the POS for payment and a notebook for orders, which is the problem they wanted to solve. Flower shop software brings the POS as one more part of the order.

## What it costs

**Hardware.** A tablet or a computer for the counter and, for receipts, a thermal printer. An ESC/POS thermal receipt printer on Wi-Fi usually costs between €80 and €200 depending on the model; an iPad from about €400. A card terminal comes from the bank or a payment processor, with its own fees. The same hardware with any program.

**Software.** Between €24.99 and €129 a month depending on the vendor, with 2026 published prices; some publish no price and others sell a one-off desktop licence. Check whether the price includes every user, whether there is a commission on sales and which plan has what you actually use. ## How Priroda does it

Priroda's POS is the iPad app "Priroda Flower Shop ERP": the order is put together in seconds with flowers, bouquets and add-ons, paid in cash, by card, transfer, Bizum or with a Stripe link, the receipt prints on any ESC/POS thermal printer on the Wi-Fi with the logo and a QR, the stock goes down by stem and the day's cash is closed on one screen. It is in the Basic plan, at €24.99 a month, with unlimited users and no commission; invoicing is being prepared for VeriFactu ahead of 2027. More in [POS for flower shops](/en/pos-for-flower-shops).

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I use the bank's card terminal with the software?
Yes: the bank's terminal charges the card, and in the software the order is marked paid by card. Remote payment links go through the processor the software uses (in Priroda, Stripe).

### Do I need a computer in the shop?
With cloud software and a tablet app, no. The iPad is the POS and sends the receipt to the printer over Wi-Fi. The office is run from any browser.

### Which printer do I buy?
Any thermal receipt printer that speaks ESC/POS and connects to the shop's Wi-Fi. It is the standard of most receipt printers.

### Does the POS have to comply with VeriFactu?
Yes. Receipts are simplified invoices and carry their record and QR. Ask the vendor which plan it is in and from when.
